Papa went further to say that over the years; he had been spending his own money with some assistance from senior citizens in the area to engage youth in cleaning the Samba Gutter.

He maintained however that the effort of the youth in this community is daunting and that they have written several projects to the relevant government authorities and non-governmental organizations to assist the youth in this community financially and otherwise to keep this community clean to no avail.

According to him, they currently need equipment and tools like shovels, wheelbarrows, pick-axes, rakes and they also need food for work because while and after working, they should be fed.

Papa, on behalf of his colleagues stated further that as far as they are concerned, they are ready to ensure that peace and unity is maintained and enforced at all levels. He went on to state that he and his colleagues have put in place measures which would ensure that voters in his community are not only peaceful but tolerant and obedient. He said that as far as they are concerned, the PWD/Pademba Road community residents will abide by the NEC regulations advising all voters to return to their respective homes once they have cast their ballot.

Also speaking in support of ‘Papa’ and the PWD/Pademba Road community residents, Mohamed Jambai who is engaged in creative arts, buttressed ‘Papa’s’ statement.

According to Mohamed Jambai, the community they are living is lacking development, adding that the situation of this area has remained the same for decades because even the Member of Parliament, Hon. Ajibola Manley Spaine and the Councilor Samuel Borbor have disappointed them. He added that despite their meeting with Hon. Spaine to inform him about what is lacking in the community, for him, (Hon. Spaine), to do something about, the situation is still the same with no development taking place. He however mentioned that the late MP for the area in question, Hon. Osho Williams (Osho for Sure) actually demonstrated his love and passion for the development of the community and its peaole through numerous projects aimed at improving the lives of the people in the community, dishing out scholarships to deserving pupils and students among other progressive development initiatives.

All in all, the two leaders Papa and Mohamed Jambai want the government (outgoing and incoming) to focus on the PWD/Pademba Road community because it is not only a security conscious area but also an entertainment one which attracts people from all walks of life.

Other pertinent issues that youth generally want answered by the political heavyweights tomorrow include access to affordable social services, equitable share of our natural resources, transparent and accountable explanation about how the country’s finances are distributed and expended among many other issues.
