The meeting between Dr. Blyden and Alhaji Sam Sumana is coming at a time when a good number of members and supporters of the main opposition Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) are proudly boasting on social media that the former vice president has consented to throw his party’s (Coalition for Change) support to the SLPP and that the party’s presidential running mate has been scheduled to storm Kono soonest.

It can be recalled that Dr. Sylvia Olayinka Blyden, who has served as senior Cabinet minister in the President Koroma’s government on two separate capacities was the only personality, serving then as journalist at Awareness Times, who stood firm and defended Chief Sam Sumana, bring out the real facts, when he was being wrongly implicated and castigated in some senseless Timbergate brouhaha few years back.

Many people who learnt about the Dr. Blyden’s meeting with Chief Sam Sumana yesterday are of the opinion that the former is the right position to cajole the latter to throw support to the APC in the runoff instead of the SLPP as widely rumored.

In attendance at the family breakfast meeting yesterday also was a very senior Kono stakeholder, Chief Aiah Songu-Mbriwa from Njagbwema, Fiama chiefdom, Kono district who had also happened to be visiting Chief Sam Sumana.
