That Deliberate Attempt to Politicize the Credible AYV

Share

It is very cruel for people to fabricate such false concept about an institution that is taking conscious steps to change the image of journalism and Sierra Leone by extension with the highest regard for professionalism principles and ethics. These innuendos will not in any way darken the professional lens or compromise our stance in society.

Having said that let me now reference an article making rounds in the social media: “Orders From Above Rejects Strasser Right to airspace at AYV”

It is pitiable that the author of the article defeated himself in the very article. I will not comment on the fact the author erroneously testified that the country’s former Head of State Captain (Rtd) Valentine Strasser was denied access to the studio because “there was order from above)

First of all, I see it as a deliberate attempt to taint the image of a young, but fine journalist like David Remie Wilson who has been producing that breakfast show for over 18 months now with little supervision and guidance.

Second of all, Mr. Strasser was never denied access to the studio. There was no way AYV could have trailed the show on its very credible Newspaper with such prominence of Strasser making the lead story on the front page, if we never wanted him on the show. The Show did not hold due to the technical difficulty we suffered as a result of power outage at Leicester Peak.

…THE TRUE STORY

The AYV Transmitter stationed at Leicester Peak went off due to power outage at around 4:35 am on Tuesday 20th March, 2018. The Transmitter went off which put us off air. The Producer, David Remie Wilson as professional as he is, called Franklyn Rogers who made the arrangement for the interview to be done and told him that we had technical crisis. Franklyn Rogers told him that they were already on their way to the studio so they will still come. They arrived at the Studio by 7:30am. Mr. Wilson reiterated the challenge we had and rescheduled the interview for Thursday 22nd March, 2018 which they agreed to and left the studio happily with a copy of the AYV Newspaper carrying the story of Mr. Strasser’s appearance on the popular and most viewed breakfast show in Sierra Leone, Wake Up Sierra Leone. Immediately that was settled, the Communications Team of the Empire issued an apology to the audiences.
