Chinese Medicos Give Free Treatment

According to the 20th CMT leader Dr. Ben, over the past decades they have seen huge success in the fight against malaria. He stated that they have sufficient political and financial support for malaria elimination all over the world.

“Children are at greater risk of malaria,” Dr. Ben said, noting that they do not have access to good quality medicines or health care through the public sector.

“We need to work harder to reach and support these children with items such as insecticide-treated mosquito nets, rapid diagnostic tests and artemisinin-based combination therapies,” Dr. Ben said.

Representing the Chinese Embassy was Guo Shaoyi. She informed her audience that her government is building a community to share the future of mankind and to connect prospects and destinies of every nation and country closely together.

According to Shaoyi, the 20th CMT which comprises of CDC experts and other medical professionals are working at the Jui Hospital and P3 Lab.

“Our government is willing and always ready to help Sierra Leone out of poor medical condition and our assistance benefits the health of Sierra Leoneans,” Shaoyi said

“We hope the China-Sierra Leone public health cooperation will consolidate the friendship between the two countries and foster greater common development,” she added.

According to the Director of Hospitals and Ambulance Services at the Ministry of Health and Sanitation, Dr. Victor Mathew Lebbie, the free treatment for children has been in operation since the past government and they are going to support its continuation, noting that children are the most vulnerable group.

He disclosed that China is one of the biggest partners which have been supporting the government of Sierra Leone in improving the health facilities of the country.

“The Chinese have been providing health personnel and doctors to improve the health sector in Sierra Leone,” Dr. Lebbie said adding that the country still lacks adequate qualified medical doctors.
