Dr. Jibao since his appointment has been demonstrating that where there is genuine and patriotic efforts, revenue generation can be unprecedented.

However, despite this achievement, records show that the NRA under Dr. Samuel Jibao has been breaking its own records from time to time but the incredible figures of last week reportedly left donor partners surprised and confident that at last honesty and prudence is finally prevailing in the revenue generation and collection system in the country.

On achieving this amazing feat, NRA and Ministry of Finance officials patted each other’s backs for reaching such a milestone just as another thirty four billion (Le34 B) was raised on Monday17 September, 2018; becoming the highest amount collected in a single day by the NRA.

In a snap interview with AYV, Dr. Jibao yesterday, he hailed the political commitment of President Julius Maada Bio, the Ministry of Finance and hardworking staff for the unprecedented revenue collection. “We could not have raised such a huge amount without political commitment of President Bio and honesty of our staff,” he added.

He commended staff of NRA for their hard work and dedication to duty, noting that with such a huge collection, financing government programmes and projects with little or no donor support is more feasible now than ever before and attributed it also to improved audit, data matching and tax payer education.

He maintained that with such display of political commitment and hard work from staff, the Authority will no doubt continue to break new ground and climb higher in revenue generation and collection to fund national development programs.

He added that he is resilient as far as ensuring that the right thing is done by all stakeholders so that the trend being set by the NRA is copied by other institutions in the name of national progress, unity, transparency and accountability.
