Managing Director SLBL Daaf Van Tilburg commended the people present at the occasion and thanked their partners for the trust, support and fruitful collaboration over the years.

Tilburg disclosed that the company is investing over Le200 billion within 3 years.

“The launch of the canning line is a tribute to our loyal consumers and distributors,” Tilburg said, adding that the choice of their consumers, customers and distributors in Sierra Leone is what makes their products different.

Tilburg added that they are working hard every day to produce beverages of international high quality standards which are appreciated by their customers, and that the investment will ensure that their consumers can enjoy made-in-Sierra Leone products in convenient packages.

Mr. Tilburg explained that they have been supporting growth of the economy and people since its inception some 57 years ago, citing that he is proud to be part of the celebration to introduce the first canning line of its products for sale in the country and eventually for export.

Installing the canning line, according to Tilburg started 3 years ago, noting that they have spent over Le200 billion on the project. He added that they have been able to patronize sorghum farmers to the extent that their numbers have increased from 10,000 to over 25,000.

Delivering his keynote address on behalf of the President, Chief Minister Professor David Francis expressed his delight for the opportunity to launch the SLBL canning line.

He commended the SLBL for embracing a local content policy in its entirety by employing 90% Sierra Leonean staff and even sending some abroad for training on how to operate the canning line.

Mr. Francis disclosed that Brewery products have become household names since 1962, and that there has been a steep decline in the manufacturing industry over the years, underscoring the fact that the development by Brewery is a welcome one.
