In a press release issued yesterday, the United Nations expressed deep condemnation of all forms of violence and extends its sincere condolences to the family of the victim.

The United Nations called on all parts of society – including national and local institutions, political leaders and party supporters, traditional leaders, and citizens in general – to commit to a spirit of tolerance and to work together to maintain peace in Sierra Leone.

The United Nations in Sierra Leone further called for a prompt investigation of the incidents so that the perpetrators may be brought to justice.

The United Nations in Sierra Leone has urged inter-party dialogue to resolve political differences and stands ready to support such dialogue.
