The objective of the United Nations conference was to have a review of the Sustainable Development Goals, and for countries to give status report on how far they have gone to implement the SDGs.

After Hon. Alpha Timbo’s presentation, the Minister of International Cooperation of Norway disclosed to the Sierra Leonean delegation his impression of the innovative efforts made by the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education to address challenges the Ministry faces to implement the Free Education Programme, as reported by the minister- Hon. Alpha Timbo.

The Norwegian Minister reveled to them, (the Sierra Leonean Delegation) that they have singled out Sierra Leone at their meeting of European countries at the conference, as the best country that has presented a honest review of their situation.

Several other delegations at the conference’s side event were impressed with Sierra Leone, and as a result various partnerships have been established with the Sierra Leonean Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education.

These partnerships will gear towards ensuring that the Free Education Programme is successfully implemented in order to fulfill goal four of the SDGs. 

The United Nations Development Programme and The Kuwait Bank are part of the organizations that were pleased with Hon. Alpha Timbo’s “honest report” on educational development in Sierra Leone. As a result they have planned visit to Sierra Leone to have a bilateral discussions with the Government of Sierra Leone, in order to identify areas they can support for the Free Education Programme to achieve it intended goals.
