It could be recalled that the Petroleum Directorate was recently supported with technological soft-ware and equipment worth thousands of United States dollars by the World Bank through the Extractives Industries Technical Assistance Project 2 (EITAP 2).

During a tour of the facilities installed at the Directorate, the Project Coordinator at the Ministry of Mines and Mineral Resources, Mustapha Sheku Gibril, informed his audience that the EITAP phase two project was extended to the oil and gas industry recently, adding that they are happy that the work of the Directorate is being enhanced with these latest soft-ware and equipment.

He reiterated their commitment to future projects that may be submitted by the directorate to the Mines Ministry.

In his response, Mr. Kabba, commended the World Bank for its support, noting that since geological soft-wares are renewed annually and at the same time are very expensive, such a genuine and timely gesture will enable the Directorate do its work smoothly. He added that the World Bank has also recently helped train local experts that are now operating the soft-wares and that with such opportunity; they will be able to provide accurate data and analysis.

Head of IT at the Petroleum Directorate, Musa Aziz Carew also commended the World Bank for boosting the Directorate’s IT Department.

He added that geophysics and geographic machines require higher processor and server facility, and that the support from the World Bank will address some of the challenges the Directorate is facing.
