He made this announcement after the Deputy Minister of Finance Patricia Laverly tabled a paper in the well of Parliament on Thursday 19th September 2019.
In his submission, Honorable Ibrahim Tawa Conteh of constituency 132 said the news of the suspension from the Speaker is not good for the country’s image.
He disclosed that Parliament has so far spent 2.8 billion leones on daily sustenance allowances and over 1 billion leones on airline tickets for overseas travelling.
Honorable Tawa added that the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association is very important for the country to be part of and the country should be able to meet its obligation especially after Parliament had received 16.5 billion leones from the Ministry of Finance as budgetary allocation.
The suspension of Sierra from the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association means the country will not take part in this year’s Common Wealth Parliamentary Conference that is expected to be held in Kampala, Uganda.
The Commonwealth Parliamentary Association is made up of member states of Commonwealth Countries.
