Students of the Fourah Bay College (Fourahbites) will this morning of 2nd June, 2021 go to the polls to elect their first ever Student Union female president in the history of the College.

On to press time last evening, no incident of violence was reported in the process. However, one of the two female presidential aspirants, FatmataBintaJalloh raised concerns regarding the Conduct of the Elections.

According to her, there were several issues surrounding the conduct of the election, holding an opinion that if these issues are not adequately addressed to ensure fairness, transparency and inclusive participation of all, it has the proclivity to undermine the entire gains made to ensure the process is peaceful.

Irregularities on the Registered Voters’ List was one of the issues she raised, noting that on Friday 28th May 2021, the Administration published the list of eligible voters for the elections and it was discovered that her name FatmataBintaJalloh was absent in the voter register despite concluding her online registration way back on April 10th, 2021.

Fatmata also complained that the voters’ list published also included the names of students who had registered against the 20th May 2021 deadline, those who registered after the deadline, and also those who have not registered at all.

However, she called on the Administration to address and correct these issues before students head into the election today. It is expected that the elections are peaceful today.
