Maybe you have not paid attention to something troubling the minds of Sierra Leoneans.

That has to do with allegations of corruption involving the sacked Minister of Lands, Country Planning and the Environment, Musa Tarawally and the Former Chairman and Leader of the Sierra Leone People’s Party, John Oponjo Benjamin.

Mr. Commissioner, Musa Tarawally was sacked and the President pronounced that he was going to set up a committee to investigate the alleged illegal handlings of Tarawally in the Ministry.

I was and I’m still of the strong maxim that that decision of the President can best be described as usurpation of powers and maybe an act of undermining the Commission. These could be viewed differently by others, maybe including the Commission.

Quintessentially, the Commission was established by an act of Parliament mandated to investigate and prosecute persons believed to have involved in the acts of corruption. Is Musa Tarawally not one of those persons?

Mr. Commissioner, John Oponjo Benjamin of the Sierra Leone People’s Party has been accused of corruption while serving as Chairman and Leader of the Party.

He is being accused of embezzling the Goodluck Jonathan Money of about $ 260, 000 and the 102 Billion Leones paid by all aspirants in 2012.  Are these issues not worth investigating? Is Musa Tarawally above the jurisdiction of the ACC? Is SLPP not a public institution?

These questions need urgent and straightforward answers.
