Sierra Leone’s Minister of Basic and Senior Secondary Education, Dr. Moinina David Sengeh over the weekend released this year’s Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) result.

According to the minister, 131,822 candidates wrote the exams and 103,625 got clear passes; of which 51,232 (79.01%) are girls and 52,393 (80.80%) are boys.

The best candidate for this year’s exams is Prince Ishmael Bairoh of Naiahcom High School with Aggregate 6, with Doris Ramatu Jah of Henritta UBC JSS clinching the second best position with Aggregate 7.

For this year’s exams, the school with the best performance is the Mod Acad School of Excellence with 100% passing rate and an average grade of 1.84.

It is worthy to note that this is the first time in the history of Sierra Leone’s education sector that BECE result is released before the reopening of schools for a new academic year.

The minister credited the efforts of the Bio led administration for such a feat at this time citing the slogan “tok and do”.
