The Mano River Union (MRU) has called for the restoration of constitutional order, the protection and safety of overthrown President; Alpha Conde in Guinea.

Videos circulated on social media on Sunday showed Colonel Mamady Doumboya who was a soldier from a unit of elite Special Forces led a coup to overthrow Guinea President Condé on the basis of corruption, mismanagement and hardship. 

The Mano River Union has raised concerns over the situation in Guinea which is a member of the Union. Secretary General of the Mano River Union, Amb. Medina Wesseh noted that Guinea serves as the current Chairman of the Union. She urged for peace and security to be restored. 

The Secretary General further urged the people of Guinea to remain calm as safety will soon be restored.

The MRU stands in solidarity with the People of Guinea and reaffirms the Union’s commitment to the promotion of durable peace through democratic assumption of political power and governance consistent with national.
