Speaker of Parliament Dr. Abass Bundu has encouraged Members of Parliament to brace themselves for the transformation to e-parliament. He noted the move to e-parliament is to enhance the work of members of parliament which will enable them access parliamentary document in and out of parliament
According to the Speaker Bundu, the establishment of the e-parliament system involves the use of Information Communication Technology to improve on parliamentary process. He added that the system will reduce the many challenges faced by parliament in times of pandemic and emergencies citing the Covid-19 pandemic as example. He furthered that it will also enhance transparency and efficiency in the parliamentary system.
Dr. Abass Bundu announced that parliament will be providing wifi modems that would be used to connect to the Lenovo m10 tablets which would be shortly distributed among parliamentarians. He however, noted that the Lenovo tablets will cost MPs a sum that is yet to be disclosed but noted will be communicated to them in due time. He continued that the payment for the tablet is to enable the administration cushion the cost.
