The Sierra Leone Library Board has received a 40-foot container SLN-SLLB-008 containing 28,602 books which were carefully selected from a wide range of network to meet the most needs in the country from Book Aid International, UK.

In a brief ceremony held at the Sierra Leone Library Board compound, the Acting Chief Librarian, Musa B. Mansaray emphasised that Books are considered as the best friends and best companions of students as they play a significant role in Student’s lives.

He stressed that books give plenty of joy to students as they learn a lot of things from books. They take them into a unique world of imagination and improve their standards of living.

He further noted that books also help to inspire students to do hard work with courage and hope, as they enrich the experiences of students, sharpen their intellect in gaining more knowledge, improve their memories and build more vocabulary.

Mr. Mansaray assured all that the books carefully selected ranges from medical, engineering, business, economic, accounting etc. to meet the curriculum of learning institutions in the country.

Acting Board Chairman, Solomon R. Fofanah reiterated that quality education is a basic necessity for the development of any society and every child is worth the investment of quality education. Education plays a vital role in the life of a every child as it empowers them to achieve their life goals, impact knowledge, and make informed decisions.

Mr. Fofanah said that this is the eighth container received from Book Aid International and they hope to distribute these books to their 25 Libraries nationwide and give out some to other Higher learning Institutions.

Mr. Fofanah praised Book Aid International and assured them that the books will be utilized for its intended purposes. He expressed thanks to the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education, the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development and all those who in diverse ways continues to help them in their stride to provide relevant materials for the people of this country.

Mr. Fofanah ended his statement by calling on both students and parents alike to make use of the library as the libraries are now stock up with various books that will help in whatever research.
