Musa further stated that that was believed to have largely affected the academic performance of school going pupils, noting that their own engagement was mainly focused on addressing the difficulties people faced in accessing pipe-borne water and proper hygiene in the country.

Country Director for WaterAid, Patrick Cheah, said he was looking forward to working with Sierra Leoneans to accomplish the proposed objectives of the organisation with support from other partners working on water and hygiene in the country.

Patrick Cheah stated that the work of WaterAid was basically partnership with organisations working to provide water and hygiene in the country.

He added: “WaterAid is here to stay and I am here to lead the organisation as a fully funded project and not a pilot project. My duty is to monitor the on-going project and to accomplish my objectives successfully.”

National Coordinator for Wash Media Network Sierra Leone, Komba Fillie, said they as media practitioners had decided to come on-board to sensitise the people on WASH related issues and to involve them in the process so that they could be owners of the project.

Executive Secretary, Victor Lansana Koroma, mentioned that WaterAid had been strategic partner to Wash-Net, adding that if they had been able to partner with other organisations today they owed that to the support from WaterAid.

“Although on the other hand the support has been very minimal but with the country director in town we are expecting more support from WaterAid,” Victor Lansana added.
