Edward Ngegba, John Bangura, Lansana Lamin, Mohamed Khana, Hassan Gbla, Solomon Williams, Yegbeh Jalloh, Olu C. Coker, Gulshan and Bamine Williams all of Mid-West CC; Sinneh Kamara Miniru Kpaka RSLAF, Osman Koroma RSLAF, Ishmael Komba, Julius Brewah and Samuel Coker of RSLAF; Emmanuel Kamara and Mohamed Mansaray of Old Edwardians were the 18 named SLCA players.

In the tentative technical and management team for the ICC were Michael Ibrahim Kargbo for general supervision, Eustace Jones in charge of management and welfare, Abubakar Kargbo was put in charge of disciplinary matters, Solomon Fatoma was there for bowling and batting while Cyril Panda was named caretaker coach.

The battle to be among the selected players began one month ago, wherein 32 players talented in fielding, bowling, batting and wicket-keeping battled with their utmost might and handiness to be part of the squad.

The squad would undergo intensive training for the next 60 days, before the final selection of fourteen-man squad, to flourish Sierra Leone, in the April ICC tournament.

Sierra Leone happened to be a debutant in the ICC-Africa Division One tournament, having won gold in last year’s Benoni engagement, and beating well established names in Africa. A win for the country in the forthcoming April outing, would take the boys to the Cricket World League Five.

Along the same line to enter the Benoni race, the four cricketers selected to take part in the India Elite Clinic have expressed optimism to live up to expectations.

Captain Lansana Lamin from the senior men’s side will lead the deputation to India while Edward Ngegba, the skipper for the under-19 side, John Bangura, a young opener and James Tommy, a born spinner are all in readiness to make a difference.

The India cricket clinic will mark the first major effort, made by the cricket family to instill confidence in players and to name a squad worthy to deliver results in cricket outings.
