“Infighting among football stakeholders is the greatest ‘sonkor-sonkor’ of our time,” the president exclaimed.

The President noted that division among football stakeholders has greatly affected the youths who have the talent to play but were denied the opportunity.

Also, he admonished the mammoth gathering to forsake pride and resolve their differences for the development of sports in Sierra Leone.

The conference which concluded Saturday 20 May brought together sports administrators of the various sporting disciplines played in the country, as well as sports personalities, civil society and the media.

The purpose was to unite a family once divided by individual interest to pursue a common objective which is to develop sports across the country and plan the kick start of the Sierra Leone Premiere League.

It could be recalled that the football family in Sierra Leone has over the years being polarized along partisan and individual interests leading almost to the collapse of sports as accusations and counter accusations; attacks and counter attacks took centre stage.

It also would be recalled that amidst the turbulence times our political Messi at some point intervened severally to resolve the impasse but to no avail as the conflicting parties proved stubborn and egocentric.

However, the outcome of the conference has ushered in a sigh of hope for both lovers of the various sports especially soccer and sports administrators in the country.
