The Parliament of Sierra Leone has ended its Three and a Half Management Retreat held from Wednesday 28th January to Saturday 31st January 2026 at Mozza Resort, York Village in the outskirts of Freetown.
It was supported by Parliament, IIDEA and UNDP for purposes of enhancing the operations of Parliament.
Welcoming participants, Director General of Parliament, Finda Fraser said among other things that the Retreat was aimed at reviewing and validating the Strategic Plan of Parliament and to enhance the administrative wing of Parliament.
Acting Country Representative of Westminster Foundation for Democracy, Wurie Bah, among other things praised Parliament for the Retreat and assured of their continued support to enhance the workings and operations of Parliament.
Country Representative of the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance, and Lecturer, Dr. Idriss Mamoud Tarawallie spoke on how funds were repurpose to support the Retreat and the need for donors’ alignments of programmes or interventions to support the Strategic Plan of Parliament.
Clerk of Parliament, Karmoh K. Conteh spoke passionately on the need for job segmentation to support the Strategic Plan of Parliament, enhancing service delivery and public trust around the workings and operations of Parliament, given institutional efficiency and effectiveness for purposes of service delivery.
The Deputy Speaker of Parliament and Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee, Hon. Ibrahim Tawa Conteh who spoke on behalf of the Speaker of Parliament encouraged staff to improve on the work culture and called on the administration to getting the basics right, through the provision of a conducive environment. He emphasised the need for productivity, growth and rewards for hard work.
The Retreat aims to attain job segmentation, review and validate the Strategic Plan of Parliament with a view to enhancing the operations of Parliament.
