The 27th Chinese Medical Team has provided free medical consultations to more than 300 residents at the Wilberforce Health Centre in Freetown.

The outreach, held on September 5, was organised in partnership with Wilberforce Health Centre and FMC under the “100 Teams, 1000 Villages” initiative, part of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) Beijing Action Plan.

A multidisciplinary team offered services in internal medicine, surgery, gynecology, ophthalmology, ENT and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).

Patients received medical examinations, treatment advice, medications, eye screening and specialist referrals, while others benefited from acupuncture and gua sha treatments for chronic pain.

Chinese doctors worked alongside local healthcare personnel and volunteers in patient registration, triage and interpretation.

Officer-in-Charge of Wilberforce Health Centre, Osman Kamara, expressed appreciation for the outreach, describing it as a valuable contribution to community healthcare and calling for regular return visits by the Chinese medical team.
