Sierra Leone has strengthened its international energy partnerships following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Energy and the International Energy Forum (IEF) at the 25th WPC Energy Congress in Riyadh.

The agreement is aimed at enhancing cooperation between Sierra Leone and the international energy body, as the country continues to pursue sustainable energy development and improved access to energy services.

The engagement also featured an initiative involving the Oil Sustainability Program, which agreed to work with Sierra Leone’s Ministry of Energy to advance sustainable energy access.

Under a separate collaboration, the programme will partner with the US-based Bettering Human Lives Foundation to provide liquefied petroleum gas (LPG)-powered clean cooking solutions.

The initiative is expected to support the promotion of cleaner cooking alternatives, helping to expand access to modern cooking solutions and reduce reliance on traditional cooking methods.

The partnerships highlight Sierra Leone’s efforts to engage international institutions and development partners in addressing energy challenges while promoting sustainability and access to cleaner energy technologies.

The agreements reached at the Riyadh congress provide an opportunity to strengthen international collaboration on energy development, sustainable energy access and clean cooking solutions.

As Sierra Leone continues to pursue its energy development priorities, such partnerships could contribute to efforts to expand access to cleaner and more sustainable energy options for households and communities.
