The district being the largest in the country is challenged in many social and economic opportunities, thereby making life very much difficult for locals especially those residing outside the district headquarter town of Kabala.
A leading call that has been made over the years by sons and daughters of Koinadugu district is the construction of the road network in the district-especially roads linking chiefdom headquarters and the district headquarter town of Kabala.
As a way of responding to this felt need of “Koinaduguans”, hundreds of kilometers road network was commissioned to be constructed in the two sister districts of Koinadugu and Falaba districts and this is a project implemented by an indigenous construction company – PAVI-FORT (SL) Ltd.
Abu-Bakarr Kamara is the Director of Media and Communications at PAVI FORT-S/L and he explained to AYV Newspaper that the construction work is in phases and that the entire project will last for five years.
He said works within the Kabala Township is at its completion stage and that the whole project is expected to fold up as against the 31st January, 2018. He went on to say that the Kabala/Kurubola Highway project is 261KM; and the first phase of this project is 30 Km.
Since the enactment of the Local Content Policy, many Sierra Leonean own enterprises have started booming. Such enterprises span from construction to agriculture; and these sectors are creating many jobs for a host of other Sierra Leoneans especially young people. PAVI-FORT (SL) Ltd being one of such Sierra Leonean road construction companies is indeed demonstrating to the people of Koinadugu and Falaba districts that, it is Sierra Leonean owned – as it is working within the project time frame and meanwhile creating jobs for many indigenes of the two districts.
As part of its cooperate social responsibilities, the company has been involving on cleaning exercise in the township and this according to the Director of Media and Communications of the company, is to promote community hygiene among residents of Kabala town.
