Describing the manner in which the promotion would be conducted throughout the Ramadan period, Mr. Bangura said in order for subscribers to participate in the show, Africell subscribers should send a blank SMS to or call 777 to automatically qualify for the electronic draw for that day. Every blank SMS sent, or call made to 777, automatically gives the subscriber 2 chances at a cost of Le650.00 (six hundred and fifty Leones); which is given back as on net bonus which must be utilized before midnight of the same day.

He explained further that all newly registered and activated SIM Cards will automatically get 1 chance in the draw. Subscriber’s chances for winning increases with every blank SMS or call made to 777. All cumulated chances will lapse at the end of each day. Live draws, Mr. Bangura said will be held from Mondays to Fridays between 9:00pm and 10:00pm with effect from today, Monday 6th May up to Tuesday 4th June 2019. The show will be broadcast live on AYV TV, Africell Facebook page with simultaneous broadcasts on AfriRadio and all major radio stations nationwide.

He further explained that during the draw, qualifying numbers will be randomly drawn electronically in the studio. On selection of a number, the subscriber’s phone will be dialed then prompted by the presenter to choose any number from 1-40 from the Treasure Tree. The winnings at this stage include: Data and Airtime Recharge and Cash Prizes or chance to access the Wheel of Fortune or the Treasure Hut and the chance to win the Star Prize of Le100,000,000 (one hundred million Leones).

However, the Africell CCAO Mr. Bangura, reminded the press and the general public about the provisions of the latest Finance Act which stipulates that all Lottery winnings from Le500,000 above are subject to 10% Lottery Tax; and winnings above Le10M are subject to 20% Lottery Tax.

“Africell will deduct this tax from all winnings in this category and will pay over to the National Revenue Authority (NRA),” he said, adding that “Africell will continue to protect our proud tradition of always introducing unrivalled, innovative promotions that provide our subscribers with the opportunity to celebrate their religious festivals, play fun games and win great prizes in the process; we will continue to be at the cutting edge of providing Sierra Leoneans with the best service quality along with the most affordable tariffs that the industry can provide in the country,” Joe Abassa Bangura said.

Also at the High Table to hammer home the points about this latest Ramadan Show were Nancy L. Josephs, Abdulai Jalloh aka Chief Koblo Koblo, and Mrs. Sarah Joy. The ceremony was well attended. A question and answer session climaxed the event.
