“The members omitted from the list including the current Chairman of Tonoklili District Council were driven from the elections hall,” he explained, claiming further that: “The APC District Chairman and Minister of Education, Dr. Minkailu Bah then ordered their arrest over what he described as non-members intrusion”.

Ibrahim Pelus Kamara, a local journalist in Tonkolili has claimed that live rounds of bullets were fired by the police resulting to serious injuries.

Several eyewitnesses including Alusine Thollie and Musa Sesay said tension heightened on the arrival of AIG North/East, Amos Kargbo.

We could not get the AIG to confirm or deny claims that he instructed his personnel to ‘shoot-on-sight’ anyone attempting to disrupt the process.

Dr. Bah is further alleged to have ordered the arrest and detention of a few people he referred to as nuisance and they include the Tonkolili District Council Chairman, Alusine Sesay, commonly known as Alusine Kamathor.

We are still trying to get the Education Minister to respond to these claims.

Local Unit Commander (LUC) Superintendent Agnes Fondowa is said to have confirmed the arrest and detention of five people. It however remains unclear on which grounds they were arrested.

We are equally making frantic efforts to get the minister to respond to claims that he is victimising people believed to be in some camp that is not his.
