The announcement was made by the Speaker of Sierra Leones’ House Parliament, Honorable Sheku Bashiru Dumbuya who made it cleared that he was acted upon the directives from the Leader and Chairman of the ruling All People’s Congress Party, President Ernest Bai Koroma to officially stripped off Ibrahim Rasim Bundu, from his position as Majority Leader of Parliament and Head of Government Business with immediate effect.

The Speaker ascertained that “Because the Leader of the House, Majority Leader and Leader of Government Business has expressed his intention to vie as a Presidential candidate in the forth coming elections, and he holds the position of Leader of the House, the Leader of the House is not only for the APC but of the entire House. There will be no more confidence in him as to his being fair and just to the House since he is now a Presidential candidate,” Hon. S.B Dumbuya as quoted.
“I’m therefore under instructions by the Leader and Chairman to relieve him of the position and make the following announcement. With immediate effect Hon. Leonard F. Fofanah becomes the Majority Leader and the Hon. Hassan Sheriff becomes the Deputy Majority Leader.”
Hon. Bundu attained the position of Majority Leader in January 2014 after the current Speaker who was then the Majority Leader was appointed replacing Justice Abel Nathaniel Bankole Stronge as speaker.
