Pottal Fii Bhantal Fulbeh Sierra Leone is a Community Development Organization. It was launched at the Radisson Blu, Aberdeen in Freetown to support the education sector. The organization includes young university students who belong to the Fullah ethnic group and are interested in keeping their culture alive while embarking on nation building.

The event also served as a fundraiser to help poor and vulnerable people in Fullahmansa village in Falaba District, northern Sierra Leone. Giving a background to the organization the President of Pottal Fii Bhantal Fulbeh, Silven Bah said Pottal means unity and oneness, while Bhantal means progress. He said their aim is to unite Fullah youths and maintain their culture and tradition.

Popular philanthropist, Adonis Abdoud, on behalf of Rotary Club pledged Le75 million to Pottal Fii Bhantal Fulbeh. The money will go towards the building of a school and digging of water well in Fullamansa in the Falaba District to address the immediate needs of the community.

Minister of Tourism and Cultural Affairs, Memunatu Pratt, lauded the effort of the organization calling on them to maintain the unity that Fullahs are known for. She said culture is about all aspects of life, which keeps people together, assuring them of her Ministry’s support.

Keynote Speaker, Umaru Farouk Bah, from the United States, said such gatherings are needed if the Fullah culture is to be maintained, especially by the children and the youths. The school will help children in Fulahmansa to access senior secondary school as many of them come to the district headquarter town to access senior school.

The Guest Speaker called on the young people to be innovative and become the next generation of thinkers for Sierra Leone. Two of the foremost politicians in the Fullah community, VP Juldeh Jalloh and leader of the opposition in parliament Chernoh Maju Bah graced the occasion and pledged their support to the organization.

Amidst their different political orientations, the two Fullah sons said their aim is to unite their people. The two politicians and other prominent people in the Fullah community received awards of recognition for their contributions to the advancement of the Fullah Community in Sierra Leone.
