In her testimony in respect of the above-mentioned matter, the prosecution witness, Dr. Radinson Claudius Cole informed the court that she is a medical doctor attached to Rainbo Centre at the Princess Christian Maternity Hospital and also operates a private hospital at Edward Street in Freetown.

She said her institution is charged with the responsibility of collecting medical history of victims of sexual abuse, that are referred to them by the police, and for the Rainbo Centre to conduct physical and forensic examination on victims.

According to Dr. Radinson Claudius Cole, she recalled the incident of 14th August last year, and that she was on duty at the Rainbo Centre when the victim was brought in for medical examination and treatment on her sex organ.

She further informed the court that medical examination was conducted on the victim and that she later put her findings into a report, which indicated that the victim’s vagina had been completely ruptured with a scanty whitish discharge.

The said medical report and the police referral paper sent to Rainbo Centre for examination and treatment of the victim were produced and tendered in evidence

During cross examination by Counsel for the alleged sex offender, Cecilia Tucker, the witness, Dr. Radinson Claudius Cole responded that vagina can be ruptured by other means, apart from sexual penetration.

She concluded that the Rainbo Centre has no forensic equipment to determine the actual perpetrator, as it is one of the major challenges facing her institution in particular and Sierra Leone’s health sector in general.

At the end of proceedings, the presiding judge, Hon. Justice John Bosco Allieu ordered that the accused person, Abdulai Kamara be relocated at the Male Correctional Centre at Pademba Road in Freetown.

The matter comes up again on Wednesday 26th June 2019.
