The APC 2018 Presidential Candidate Dr. Samura Mathew Wilson Kamara was invited to deliver the keynote address but was unavoidable absence thereby asking his young soldier Chericoco to represent him at the event and did an impressive job on behalf of his boss.

When he took to the podium, Hon. Bah was introduced spectacularly to the audience as he was described as a young, a visionary and a service and delivery focused personality.

Making a quick response in relation to the grandeur manner in which he was introduced, Hon. Bah in chuckles remarked that the person who did the introduction omitted the history of his being a bread and butter seller in his formative or youthful years. He thanked the organizers for the invitation extended to Dr. Samura and spoke of the fact that his boss felt highly honoured by the invitation. He however apologized for his unavoidable absence. He told the audience that Dr. Samura is a repository of experience and that the organizers did not make any mistake in identifying him to be the Guest Speaker.

Delivering his keynote address, Hon. Bah spoke about the importance of democracy and democratic values in Sierra Leone touching on the place and function of civil society groups. He commended civil society groups that are contributing to improving democratic good governance and social justice in the country. He however berated those that he dubbed ‘evil society groups’ that are a bane rather than a boon to the country.

Hon. Bah spoke about the need for students to exhibit a mature sense of judgment, patriotism and nationalism. He referenced Dr. Samura’s mantra of ‘My Sierra Leone my Responsibility’ as quintessential of the pure and sincere love a citizen can have for his or her country. He also spoke about the need for people-centered policies-policies that genuinely address issues of education, health, agriculture, social welfare and other crucial areas. He spoke about the crucial need for a peaceful election and made reference to the APC’s movement on that trajectory since independence. The APC according to him do not believe in the barrel of the gun.

The audience pressed questions to which Hon. Bah responded convincingly to warrant occasional thunderous applause for him.

Hon. Bah on the sidelines of the occasion used the opportunity to share the good news about Dr. Samura Kamara and what his potential presidency holds in store for the nation.

Before attending the public lecture, Hon. Bah performed Friday Jumaah prayers by joining the Basharia mission. He later joined President Koroma as he was given a certificate by the Council of Imams for his role in promoting Islam in the country.
