The company has brought its Chinese novelty in city beatification, which is why it continues to support the Agriculture Ministry to do tree planting and City beautification with flowers and ornamentals.

Hundreds of trees have so far been planted through the project, starting from Spur Road; extended unto the President’s Lodge at Hill Station and other major streets and roads like State Avenue and Wallace Johnson Street in Freetown.

The exercise, which has also contributed to boost youth employment, is aimed at making the city more tourists-attractive and promotes the idea of tree planting for the protection of the environment.

Headed by a young Sierra Leonean, Patrick Koroma, the company provided funds and other materials to the ministry after it realized that the planting of flowers adds an element of beautification to the city.

It could be recalled that sometimes last year the Minister of Agriculture Forestry and Food Security, Professor Patrick Monty Jones, took the lead in the beautification of the city, as he symbolically planted flowers and ornamental trees to demonstrate his Ministry’s efforts in ensuring that the city of Freetown remains beautiful and protected.

Patrick Koroma is with the strong conviction that planting flowers is the beginning of an effort in making Freetown a beautiful and attractive city, compared to others in the sub-region.

He admonished Sierra Leoneans to engage in planting more flowers and beautiful trees for the protection of the environment and to make sure that the trees and flowers are protected.

The Public Relations Officer in the Ministry of Agriculture, Abu Bakarr Sidique Daramy was amongst 29 Sierra Leoneans who successfully completed a three-week training organized by the Anhui Institute of International Business in “Urban Construction Management for Sierra Leone 2017”. He is currently helping in the city beautification process as a form of putting to practice knowledge gained in the training.

“Planting flowers fosters economic development and promote peace in our country, because it will attract more tourism activities and create employments”, Daramy said, and added that

Sierra Leoneans should take a bold step in planting flowers to make Freetown an enviable city in the world.

City beautification, he said, is not just the responsibility of government, but also the responsibility of each resident to play his/her part in making their environment a little better.

“If you had beauty that surround you every day, your stress levels would go down and your appreciation for things around you would increase. Your attitude naturally becomes more positive, which in return makes more positive things happen. It is a contagious entity which takes over and moves forward faster and faster as people get involved,” the Agric PRO said.

He further called on more Sierra Leoneans to come onboard to support the project.
