The event which was organized by China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCIPT), Hunan chapter, and it garnered the attention of senior officials including the Vice Governor and investors from Hunan, Ambassadors, Environment and Agricultural attaches among others. Series of exciting product exhibitions, non-legacy performances and tourism promotion activities, presenting Hunan’s characteristic culture, tourism resources and quality products to everyone, showing the achievements of green development and ecological civilization construction in Hunan province, showing the efforts to build riches were central during the occasion.
I his welcome address to dignitaries at the formal opening ceremony of “Hunan Day” event, Vice Governor of Hunan Province, Chen Wenhao said Ecological development is civilized, and ecological decline is civilized. Vice Governor Chen said the ecological environment is the foundation of human survival and development, referencing General Secretary Xi Jinping speech on Beijing World Expo where he profoundly expounded the “five should pursue” global ecological civilization goals, and advocated for the joint construction of beautiful earth homes and jointly built a community of human destiny.
In recent years, the Hunan Provincial Party Committee and the provincial government he pointed out have deeply practiced Xi Jinping’s ecological civilization thoughts, keeping in mind the important guiding spirits such as “protecting a river and clear water”, “grasping a big protection, and not doing big development”, and always taking ecological civilization.
Even though construction is in a prominent position in the overall development, unswervingly taking the road of ecological priority and green development, and actively promoting the high-quality development of Hunan, Vice Governor Wenhao stated are core. He sighted some key personalities who hailed from that region and who have been are still instrumental to the development of China. Such personalities he sighted are but not limited to Wei Yuan, Zeng Guofan, Mao Zedong, and Yuan Longping among others have all played the trend of the times and led Hunan to the world.
Delivering a keynote speech during the formal opening of the “Hunan Day” of International Horticultural Exhibition 2019, Beijing in China, Sierra Leone’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Embassy of the Republic of Sierra Leone in China, Chief Ernest Mbaimba Ndomahina commended Hunanese on such a special day, stating that the invitation signifies the strengthening of the long history of exchanges and cooperation that has witnessed the profound friendship between Hunan and Sierra Leone.
He said since the reform and opening up, the friendly exchanges between China and Sierra Leone have always included the presence of Hunanese. He expressed gratitude on behalf of Sierra Leoneans to the leadership and people of Hunan for its strong support, and sincere help in the field of health care over the past few decades.
Ambassador Ndomahina recounted on President Julius Maada Bio’s last visit to the People’s Republic of China, where he paid a special visit to Hunan, and attended the 4th Investment in Africa Forum, where he meet with Secretary Du Jiahao. The two sides he noted had fruitful discussions on cooperation in the fields of modern agriculture, mineral exploitation, tourism and cultural education, health care, infrastructure construction, among other key priorities,
A new blueprint he added drawn for future development of bilateral relations.
It could be recalled that in June this year, Ambassador Ndomahina led a delegation of about twenty Sierra Leoneans drawn from across the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Corporation headed by the Minister Nabeela Tunis, Chairman Presidential Infrastructure Initiative, officials from the Local Contents Agency, and officials from Sierra Leone’s Embassy in China to participate in the First China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo which was held in Changsha, Hunan
“I once again felt the profound historical friendship between China and Africa,” he noted, adding that he was deeply impressed by the grand scale and fruitful achievements of the Expo.
The Expo commenced with a great display and beautiful fireworks which left me many just like the amazed and thrilled! The lucid waters and lush mountains, and pleasant scenery of Hunan, the hospitality of Hunan people as well as the delicious food left me an indelible impression. Sierra Leone looks forward to further expanding and deepening cooperation with Hunan in the fields of education, health, fishery and tourism within the “One Belt, One Road” Initiative proposed by President Xi Jinping and the framework of Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), so as to achieve mutual benefit and common development.
More than 50 ethnic groups including the Han, Tujia, Miao, Dong and Yao ethnic groups were gathered at the event to build a beautiful home. Hunan present population stands at 73 million, Hunanese are using Qingshan as a pen and green water as ink, drawing a magnificent Hunan ecological painting on the hinterland of China. The egrets fly, the elk play, the porpoise prance, people and nature all forms part of the beautiful picture of harmonious co-existence are slowly unfolding.
The Beijing World Expo provides an important opportunity for China and the rest of the world to strengthen mutual understanding and promote win-win development of ecological civilization, Focusing on the theme of “Xiangyu Peach Blossom Source”, Hunan carefully constructed the Hunan Pavilion and Hunan Garden, based on the harmonious symbiosis between man and nature, and created the poetic pastoral scenery through the elements of mountains, water, forests, fields, lakes and grasses in Hunan.
