The accused indictment disclosed that he allegedly murdered his own eleven years old daughter; name withheld at No. 63 Robert Street in the Freetown judicial district, and in the republic of Sierra Leone, on 25 December 2016.

In her testimony in a well attended court session, the grandmother of the deceased, Memunatu Kargbo who was led in evidence by police prosecutor, Inspector I S Mansaray before Magistrate, Dr. Abubakar Binneh Kamara disclosed that the accused was her son- in- law, and the deceased was her granddaughter.  

She recalled  Sunday, 25 December 2016, and on the day in question, she got an information that the deceased was unwell and later went there to see what the problem was, stating that upon her arrival at the residence of her deceased granddaughter at N0. 63 Robert Street, she was told that the deceased had been taken to the Satellite Hospital at Macauley Street in Freetown for treatment.

According to the witness, she rushed to the Satellite Hospital, but that upon her arrival, she was told by the nurses who examined the deceased that her granddaughter had been deflowered, and she should be transferred to the Rainbow Centre, at Princess Christian Maternal Hospital PCMH on Fourhbay road in Freetown.

She also informed the court that before her granddaughter passed away at the PCMH commonly referred to as Cottage Hospital, she vivid saw blood stains on her private part, and statement was later obtained from her at the Central Police Division, on Wallace Johnson street in the central part of Freetown, coupled with the tendering in evidence of a photo copy of the autopsy examination result by the prosecution, as part of the court records, and in respect of the matter being adjudicated.

During cross examination by Counsel for the accused, Alhaji Mustapha Kamara, the witness stated that deceased had an elder sister which had stayed with the accused for eleven years , but that she could not tell the court whether, the two sisters sharing  the same room, since she was not living with them, at 63 Robert street, where the alleged unfortunate incident took place.

At the concluding stage of proceedings, Magistrate Dr. Abubakar Binneh Kamara ordered for the accused, Saidu Kamara to be remanded at the Male Correctional Centre on Pademba road in the west end of Freetown.

The matter will come up again for hearing on 8 March 2017.
