According to the affected residents, extraordinary high tide caused the flood.

Wellington is one of the communities at the East end part of the capital city that is usually affected by flood in recent times and especially during the Rainy Season. Most of the affected emphasized to AYV that the fact of the matter is that whenever the sea tide rises extraordinarily the people living along the coast suffer. They added however that this time round, the situation is more serious because the flood waters did not only affect coastal residential areas but crept its way into higher ground.

Kadijatu Kabia one of the victims told AYV that this flood caught them unawares, adding that she was doing her domestic calls when the flood came in.

Arthur Mansaray is the councilor for ward 403. He pleaded with government and other organizations and agencies in Sierra Leone to support the victims.
