“In these elections the people of Port Loko are set to show the world that they are dissatisfied with the ruling All People’s Congress” Mr. Kabbia maintained.

He further stated that most indigenes in that part of the country believe the central government is not doing much to help them get jobs in the mining companies operating in their localities.

For this reason Mr. Kabbia stated that Portloko is no longer a strong hold of the APC and as a result the party has confusions on selecting who is to contest the bye elections on their behalf.

He went on to emphasize that in order to increase the SLPP’s chances of winning the bye elections the party’s district executive has chosen popular candidates in the constituency to contest.

He said Alamamy Kamara also known as ‘Almost’ who will be contesting the ward election for their party is well appreciated by the people for the roles he played to rehabilitate them after the decade civil war.

He said Kamara is a reputable man, who has refused to join the APC disregarding the efforts made by the party’s big guns in the district to buy him over.

Mr. Francis Obai Kabbia who was responding to concerns raised by some senior members of his party for turning down the party’s symbol to contest in the parliamentary bye-elections of Constituency 50 differentiated between a king-maker and a king.

“It is true that I am a popular man in Lunsar, but given my influences it is best in the interest of my party that I support someone to become member of parliament, than running for the position as if I am only human resource the party has in that district”, Mr. Kabbia maintained, adding that this is time for the party to showcase another quality brains that would positively impact nation building.

He described himself at this situation as a king maker in the district and who so ever he supports will win any election in the district.

“Bit canda res na me back if SLPP loss nar Lunsar” Mr. Kabbia assured his party.

He denies accusations that he is feeling too big to serve his people. He said he has always been there for them, and the people themselves can attest to that fact.

He said that is why this time they are going to vote for the person contesting with his party’s ticket.
