Samuel Elba furthered “this competition is basically how we can purify water for make it useful for all and we as team are currently working on the machine that is yet to be completed but we hope to complete it and represent our country.”

Mustapha Ibrahim mentioned that he happened to be part of innovate Salone team that will handle the technical aspect of creating the robot that they would use to purify water, he pointed out that working together with other innovators had been a great thing and that they have been able to do great things together.

He further stated that they would do all they could  to give Sierra Leone a quality representation in Washington and that he happened to be part of the mechanical department in building the robot.

Fatmata Bintu Barrie mentioned that it an honor working among Sierra Leone finest innovators being the only female innovator among the team preparing to represent the country in July 2017, and that they started their innovations with the building of small robots, adding that at the moment they are building a big one.

She added “it really not an easy task but in the process, I have been able to learn a lot in the process and I want the men also to note that even though am a woman I am be able to work with them.”

She further highlighted that in her first project in which she was named best female innovator was around water purification and that the robot they are building would be purifying water. She disclosed that after the competition they are planning to innovate a machine that will clean sea weed as a way of improving tourism in the country.

Laboratory Manager, Vandy Sattie explained that his job was to ensure that rules and regulations are adhering to and that he has been working also with the encoding team.
