The Deputy Minister of Labour and Social Security, Lansana Mohamed Dumbuya and other senior staff of the Ministry have met with a team from Saudi Arabia on the placement of Sierra Leone on the Saudi Labour Migration Portal.

The team also gave a detailed explanation of the Mosaned Recruitment Portal, an initiative of the Saudi Government to aid safe, orderly and legal labour migration globally.

Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Dr. Ibrahim Jalloh, who accompanied the team, said he was impressed with the process so far, adding that several engagements had already been held both in Sierra Leone and in Saudi Arabia and that it has been a long process which is yielding well.

He said it was a responsibility on the government to ensure safe, orderly and covered labour migration for citizens.

“As an Embassy, it is our concern to look into it properly because we are the first point of call whenever there are problems with citizens in these Gulf States”, the Ambassador said.

He assured that the embassy will work together with the ministry to ensure the safety of Sierra Leoneans in the State of Saudi Arabia and other areas of concern.

The team lead and Chief Executive Officer of the Mosaned program, Khaled Al Toukhi, while giving an overview of the Mosaned migration program, referred to it as a “one stop shop” where one can access everything about recruitment in the country.

He said the system has been built in a unique way that addresses the issues associated with overseas employment in Saudi Arabia.

Explaining how the system works, Mr. Khaled revealed that Saudi Arabia currently hosts over four million domestic workers.

In similar development, a technical training on the use of the Saudi/Musaned recruitment portal, is ongoing at Radisson Blu in Freetown.

The training seeks to help licenced private recruitment agencies to familiarize with the Saudi Portal and how to use it in their overseas recruitment processes.

This portal gives access to accredited overseas recruitment agencies in Sierra Leone to directly interface and interact with accredited recruitment agencies in Saudi Arabia. The process is monitored by Musaned to ensure that both parties do not default.

In his statement, the Minister of Labour and Social Security, Honorable Alpha Osman Timbo, entreated the agents to pay attention and make the best use of the training.

He encouraged them to ask as many questions as they can so that they can be clear on what to do in the portal because they have much to benefit from it.
