The above mentioned political strategists and innovators, on Sunday 16 July 2016 organized a valentine gathering at the Laiden hall field in the east of Freetown, to showcase political support and unity the ruling All Peoples congress Party continued to enjoy from it members, not only in the east of Freetown capital, but also in other parts of the county.
One of the main objectives of the valentine gathering was to abreast supporters of the party about the concrete strategies and dependable programmes, the All Peoples Congress Party had implemented over the years , and how the party will clinch the political leadership of Sierra Leone, come 2018 presidential elections.
Jamesina Rogers-Wright who is a legal minded personality with integrity had long told Africa Young Voices that she decided to vie for the Mayorship of Freetown under the All Peoples Congress ticket with the sole aim of ensuring that the municipality of Freetown regains its lost glory.
She maintained that rebranding Freetown municipality was her dream and had set aside result oriented strategies and concrete measures towards complementing the efforts of government in the area of socio economic and political development of mother Sierra Leone.
According to Jamesina Rogers-Wright, it was incumbent on every Sierra Leoneans to contribute towards the development of his or her motherland, and her decision to vie for the Mayorship of Freetown was purely based on patriotism and political realization that every Sierra Leone should play a role in the overall development of the country.
Mohamed Kamara aka Med Kay who together with Jamesina Rogers –Wright conveyed the valentine gathering of hundreds of young and immaculate party supporters informed the well attended gathering that he never regretted joining the ruling All Peoples Congress Party.
He made it crystal clear that he would set an unshakable political platform for his party, and would all out to ensure that his party wins all parliamentary seats, not only in the western urban and rural, but also the socio economic and political leadership of Sierra Leone.
“I have set up committees within my locality that was comprised of various tribes as a way of demonstrating political inclusion and the committee will visit all palm wine selling centres, Atiya base and even private homes to bring more supporters on board the All Peoples Congress political bandwagon,” Mohamed Kamara stated.
Mohamed Kamara told the mammoth gathering that he did join the All Peoples Congress Party for position with the hierarchy of his party, but that he would leave no stone unturned in ensuring that his party continued with it development activities across that country.
He disclosed that many supporters of his former party, the opposition Sierra Leone Peoples Party had declared their intention to join the All Peoples Congress Party, stating that they had surrendered their party cards to him as a way demonstrating loyalty and sincere intention of joining the All Peoples Congress.
Mohamed Kamara promised to uphold the ideas of his party work in consonance with elders of the party whom he described as his political mentors, and that he would also explored all means humanly possible to convinced more Sierra Leoneans about the need to support and vote overwhelmingly for his party in the upcoming general elections,
Delivery his keynote address, the National Secretary General of the All Peoples Congress Party, Ambassador Foday Osman Yansaneh informed party supporters that congratulated, Jamesina Rogers-Wright aka Mammy Jazz and Mohamed Kamara aka Med Kay for their unflinching loyalty , coupled with commitment and dedication towards the party.
He disclosed that when his party takes over the reins of governance come 2018 general elections, they would increase the salary of councilors in the country, as they were vital and helpful in state governance.
The All Peoples Congress Party, he went on was a rainbow party that encouraged all shades of opinion, and went further to appeal to his party supporters to stay put, as he had circulated a circular to all stakeholders for general consensus, and accept whose ever was chosen as the presidential flagbearer of the ruling All Peoples Congress Party.
Present at the Valentine gathering were, the Minister of Aviation, Balogun Koroma aka Logus, the party constituency and districts executive officials and the occasion was graced with tradition drumming and dancing.
