The accused is facing four count charges ranging from Conspiracy to engaging in Trafficking in Persons, contrary to Section (2) of the Anti-Human Trafficking Act No.7 of 2005 of the laws of Sierra Leone.

According to the Particulars of Offence, the accused Emmanuel Nylander on diverse dates between 21 November 2017 to 11 May 2018 at his No.14 William Street residence at Portee in the Freetown judicial district in the Republic of Sierra Leone did transport Edna Amie Vandy, and Michael Robinson Moseray from Freetown to Italy for the purpose of exploitation.

He is also said to have transported Martha Kamara, Kanisha Kamara, Sahr Tieh, Isaiah Kamara and Mary Kanneh to Italy, but when communication between the parents and their children stopped, they enquired from the accused person about the whereabouts of their children, and they later reported the matter to the Criminal Investigation Department headquarter at Pademba Road in Freetown.

The accused Emmanuel Nylander was arrested and detained but was released when he told police that the children had died in a road accident, when the vehicle carrying them to Italy somersaulted.

The complainants, Jeneba Kposowa and Mary Kanneh were represented by lawyer Musa Pious Hermor Sesay, while the first defendant and accused person Emmanuel Nylander was defended by Lawyer JM Jengo and Lawyer M. Baratay.  Magistrate Hannah Bonnie adjourned the matter to Monday 18 June 2018
