He affirms that access to print materials directly relates to students experiencing life in a positive way—behaviorally, academically, and psychologically.

Mr. Turay disclosed that the books are demand driven as the list of books ranges from medical, engineering, business, economic, accounting etc. and was carefully selected to meet the curriculum of learning institutions in the country.

He noted that the supply also contains children’s and young-adult literature and numerous authors with special creativity to inspire and charm young readers.

Mr. Turay reiterated that they believed that education is the great equalizer in the world, and books are the foundation of a strong educational system. The gift of books truly is a gift of hope. He said that this is the second container received from Book Aid International and they hope to distribute the books to their 21 Libraries nationwide and give out some to the University of Sierra Leone, N’jala University, Plan International and other learning Institutions.

Mr. Turay lavished praises on Book Aid International and assured them that the books will be utilized for its intended purposes. He expressed thanks to the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, the Ministry of Finance and Economic Development and all those who in diverse ways continues to help them in their strive to provide relevant materials for the people of this country. In her remarks the Administrative Assistant and Head of Programs at the Sierra Leone Library Board Mrs. Theresa Conteh said that the Library strives to help create a culture of literacy and provide the tools of empowerment for the next generation of parents, teachers, and leaders in the country and called on the students to make good use of the libraries nationwide.

Mrs. Conteh thanked Book Aid International for their continued support and prays they will continue to help build the Human Resource of the country. She extended her thanks to the Ministry of Education and all those who in diverse ways have helped them in ensuring that they are able to provide books to remote parts of the country.
