Few months ago the Sierra Leone Local Content Agency instructed supermarket owners to display local goods on their shelves. This instruction from the Agency has brought about different concerns and challenges from both suppliers and supermarket owners. This roundtable discussion was geared towards identifying these challenges and proffering measures to address them. Some suppliers and supermarket owners spoke on the challenges they are facing and also made some recommendations.

 Fodeba Daboh is the Director General of the Agency, he spoke on the significance of the  engagement, and reiterated the Agency’s key mandate to ensure compliance with regard what the law states.

Among the major concerns highlighted from the engagement included substandard goods and packaging challenges on the part of suppliers. On the other hand, some supermarket owners have been refusing to promote local goods.
