It was alleged that the accused person’s violently attacked the deceased at a popular bar called “Afarma” at gray bush within the Ascension town community, on 5 August 2016,  the incident left the deceased with a deep cut on his face, including blood  profusely oozing from the various unfathomable cuts, he sustained from the accused person.

In his testimony before Magistrate Dr. Abubakar Binneh Kamara of Court N0.1 in Freetown, the deceased brother, Mohamed Lamin Kamara, stated that he recalled exactly what transpired between the accused person and the deceased on 5th August, 2016.

According to him, on the above stated date, he had gone to Afarma together with his friends to share a good company and upon their arrival they met his brother, Abdul Kamara who was also sharing a company with his friends.

He further told the court that his brother then beaconed and advice him not to allow himself to be induced by friends or indulged in any drinking of alcohol, smoke cannabis sativa or cigarette, and later gave him five thousand leones to buy pepper soup.

The witness added that while his brother was admonishing him, the accused person interfered in their discussion, and that action annoyed his brother, who attempted to flounce the accused person to the ground, but unfortunately, his brother fell on the ground.

He explained that while his brother lying on the ground swimming in the pool of his own blood, the accused person ran into a nearby shop owned by a lady called Mama Africa, and came out with two white bottles, which he repeatedly used to hit the deceased on his face, including a granite stone, thus leaving him with deep cuts and blood profusely oozing all over his face.

As a result of this, he said he ran to the deceased residence, not too far from the alleged crime scene to inform the deceased wife about the incident, stating that even though he informed her, but that she never went there.

The deceased brother, Mohamed Lamin Kamara, also told the court that on the following morning, he was told by his friends that the remains of his brother was lying in an unfinished building, nearby the alleged crime scene, within the same Ascension town community.

He said the matter was then reported at the Central Police Division on Wallace Johnson Street in Freetown, and statement was obtained from him in respect of the matter before the court.
