They broke ranks just before the 2012 elections and have since been estranged.

Addressinga sizeable gathering in the eastern district headquarter town, Mr Magai told his supporters that his visit was to inform them about new developments and plans, making reference to the current economic situation in the country as a reason they must come together to remove the APC in the 2018 elections.

The PMDC leader said: “We have decided to start my ‘break silence tour’ in Kenema because despite the township being the third largest city in the countryit is the most neglected of all districts”.

He encouraged them to think rationally and to give the PMDC a chance once more so that they could handle the leadership of the country as the only hope for development.

“If you allow the APC to win in the next elections they will sell this country for us. I am the only hope for the people of this nation” he said.

The party’s national publicity secretary, Mouneru Koroma, told the crowd that paramount amongst the reasons for their visit to Kenema was to put plans together for the conduct of their lower level elections after they would have been given the mandate by the Political Parties’ Registration Commission to do so.

“Margai’s popularity nationwide cannot be underestimated. He is the only leader that is fit enough to lift Sierra Leone from the corruption, mismanagement and economic mess that the APC government has degenerated this country into”, he said, adding that the marriage between APC and the PMDC had long been over.

“We, a responsible political party, havenot seen any seriousness in the APC government to develop this country. We are strong enough to win the coming elections if and only if the APC allows it to be free and fair”, he said.
