He observed that the beneficiaries of the Free Health Care Initiative lactating mothers, pregnant women and children under-five years since its inception have been benefiting, disclosing that under the New Direction the disabled and Ebola Survivors have been added.
Chairman Sahr Lamin called on all Paramount Chiefs, the Military, Police and other stakeholders in the district to make sure they monitor the utilization of the drugs for the intended purpose.
He reminded all that the drugs are meant to improve the health status of the people of Kailahun, and reiterated the need for them to act as watch dogs.
Mr. Lamin maintained that as a council, their role is to ensure that the drugs are well secured and monitored until it reaches the appropriate beneficiaries in the remote village in Kailahun.
Paramount Chief Festus Gaima VII on behalf of his colleague Paramount Chiefs and the people of Kailahun district assured the government that as Paramount Chiefs they would do all it takes to ensure that the consignment in the trucks are positively distributed and utilized for the intended beneficiaries.
Deputizing the Chief Medical Officer, the Senior Assistant Secretary, Moinina Momoh described drugs distribution exercise in Kailahun as the most essential aspect in the health care delivery system in the country.
He told the gathering that the drugs are for them to help save the lives of their people, adding that if the drugs are used for its intended purpose, the donors will continue to support the country, and appealed to them to work hand in glove to monitor the drugs
Representing the Host Paramount Chief of Kailahun district, the Town Chief, AlphaNdoleh thanked the President, the government and Ministry of Health for the initiative and expressed commitment in monitoring the drugs.
