Easmond Nathaniel B. Ngakui was approved as Director of Public Prosecution (DPP), Albert O.U. Collier-Member, Board of Trustees, National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NASSIT), Nazir Ahmed Ali Kamanda Bongay-Member, Board of Trustees, National Social Security and Insurance Trust (NASSIT), Daniel E. Kaindaneh-Member, Statistics Sierra Leone Council, Camillo A. Kamara-Member, Statistics Sierra Leone Council and Prince B.C Cotay-Member, Statistics Sierra Leone Council, were the presidential nominees approved by Parliament.

In concluding the debate, both the Acting Leaders of the House, Hon. Mathew S. Nyuma and Hon. Ibrahim Ben Kargbo, respectively congratulated the nominees and encouraged them to use their experience and technical expertise diligently during their service to the country.

Other MPs who spoke to the motion commended President Julius Maada Bio for appointing qualified Sierra Leoneans to serve in high offices of State.

In another development, Parliament has ratified two energy agreements that are geared towards improving electricity supply in the country.

Utility Grid Infrastructure and Electricity Supply Agreement by and Between Government of Sierra Leone Represented by Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority and Ministry of Energy and Ministry of Finance and Karadeniz Powership Kaya Bey Company Limited, Dated 11th June 2018  and Addendum Agreement Dated 20th December, 2018 by and Between Government of Sierra Leone Represented by Electricity Distribution and Supply Authority and the Ministry of Energy and Ministry of Finance and Karadeniz Powership Kaya Bey Company Limited, Relating to the Utility Grid Infrastructure and Electricity Supply Agreement Dated 11th June 2018 were the energy agreements were approved by Parliament.

Presenting both agreements prior to ratification, the Minister of Energy, Alhaji Kanja Sesay highlighted the importance of these agreements towards the development of electricity supply and distribution in the country.

MPs who spoke to the motion welcomed the initiative of Government aimed at improving electricity generation, distribution and supply in the country. They also referred to electricity as “an indispensable driver for sustainable development”.
