According to the National President of Islamic Solidarity Sport Federation of Sierra Leone, Abdul Karim Sesay, the main purpose of organizing the sport meet is to show the social aspect of Islam as sport is in Islam. He added the holy Prophet Mohammed also took part in sports during his days on earth.

This year’s sports meet according to Sesay covers the Western Area Rural and Urban. He stated that the houses competing are White, Blue, Yellow and Black.

He further said that next year they will be involving athletes in the provinces because they want the event to get a national flavor. He noted that the entire Western Area is divided into four zones with Islamic names of past caliphates that helped Prophet Mohammed disseminate the word of Allah.

“Four houses took part in this year’s sports,” Sesay said adding that  Black House came first position with 166 points, White House came second with 132 points; Blue House took the third position with 97.3 points and Yellow House taking fourth position with 69 points.

A certificate of merit was given to the athletes who took and new records were set.

Unisa Deen Kargbo who represented the National Sports Council and Olympic Committee said the athletes that performed well shall represent the country in the upcoming Islamic Games in Turkey.
