Dr Kanu said because they intend to run the hospital on a 24 hour basis, these team that have arrived are living in the quarters of the hospital so that they will have the advantage to start work early as well as they can call upon them at anytime.
Dr Kanu maintained that the cost of treatment is very cheap compared to other hospitals, but stressed the point that they give quality services and they will soon start doing major operations and will also do chemotherapy for cancer patients.
The head of the hospital reiterated that they are still registering for the cataract operation that a Chinese team will arrive in town to do. He said the registering is just a mere Le30,000, the same fee every patient pays to register at the hospital for other ailments.
‘We are looking at 500 people from all over the country that have cataract to the Jui hospital and register so that they will have the operation done free for them. Presently, in the last one month that the E.N.T. section started operation, we have performed about 15 major eye surgery and tens of other eye treatment has been done.”
He commended the Chinese doctors for their passion to help Sierra Leoneans and said they must be given the support to keep them going.
Dr Kanu said in June the team that arrived last year will be leaving and another will arrive for a one year period again. He said currently there are some other doctors that will arrive very soon to join their compatriots in help save lives in the country.
One of the doctors that arrived will be in charge of Chest. He said they have started doing operations in the hospital and they have some patients that are currently admitted after undergoing successful operation in the
