The opening ceremony was done in presence of representatives of the Sierra Leone Roads Authority and CRSG who expressed satisfaction about the work. According to an official of CRSG, Shaw, the old 137.7 meters long bridge was built decades ago, with simple structure to support it.  He said the new 149.34 meters long bridge with a total width of 10. 5 meters with Dual carriageway is separated from the older one which is 9.76 meters long. During the construction of the bridge, he confirmed that all relevant partners, including the Minister of Works, Housing and Infrastructure, Chinese Ambassador to Sierra Leone, Senior Officials of SLRA, CRSG and Heads of line ministries, manifested great interest and work closely with each other to ensure the successful construction of the bridge.

Management Staff of CRSG opined that the opening of Orugu Bridge provides a safe, convenient and smooth opportunity for people to travel with ease as well as an opportunity to fast track the ongoing work on the Waterloo-Masiaka Highway, thereby providing strong support for rapid socio- economic development of country.
