He said after obtaining voluntary caution statement from the accused person, he handed over the said old bayonet and four kitchen knives, which the accused allegedly used to kill his mother, Yeali Sesay to the Crime Writers Unit for safe custody while obtaining statement from the accused.

The police detector went on that he remembered 13th February 2016 when he met with relatives of the deceased at the Connaught Hospital Mortuaries to identify the deceased to him before obtaining charge statement from the accused together with Detective Police Constable Sesay M.

At this stage of proceedings, the witness was about to tendered the accused person’s voluntary caution statement when Counsel for the accused, Cecilia Taulker from the Legal Aid Board raised an objection.

She argued that the accused person was forced by the investigating police officers to validate his voluntary caution statement and apart from that all what the police recorder during the cause of investigation was not the correct statement of her Client.

Lawyer Cecilia Taulker’s objection was sustained and Hon. Justice John Bosco Allieu ordered that the accused person be relocated to the Male Correction Centre on Pademba road in Freetown on remand, whiles awaiting the next hearing slated for 13th November, 2017.
