Section 56 Act 6 of the 1991 Constitution provides for the appointment of Ministers and Commissioners and Section 57 states that Ministers and Deputy Ministers shall not take up office unless he/she subscribes to the oath of office.

In admonishing the new Ministers, Deputy Ministers and Commissioners, President Bio cautioned them to work hard and that he expects more from them as the task ahead of them is gigantic.

Speaking on behalf of the new Ministers, Deputy Ministers and Commissioners, the Minister of Gender and Children’s Affairs Manty Tarawalli said they are aware of the scale and gravity ahead and that they will do everything within their powers to achieve the President’s New Direction.

Among those that ascribed to the oath of office are Rtd. Brig. Kellie Conteh – Minister of Defence; Denis K. Sandi – Minister Agriculture and Forestry; P.K Lansana – Minister Water Resources; Dr. Moinina Sengeh – Minister of Basic and Senior Secondary Education; Prof. Foday Jaward – Minister of Environment; and Manti Tarawally – Minister of Gender and Children’s Affairs. Commissioners: Ahmed Abu Kemokai – Public Service Commission; Alhaji Muctarr Williams – PPRC; Christian Sawyer – PPRC and several others who ascribed to the oath of office including a number of Deputy Ministers.

The ceremony was climaxed with the signing of oath and photographs taken with the President.
