The Sierra Leone national development plan provides a clear vision for saving children for the next five years and the preparation of this strategic plan has captured the aspiration of its citizens to reflect on the development needs of the country.

Mr. Haji-Kella added that, the strategic plan is geared towards meeting the objectives of their government, citing that the exercise was also to obliged resource to elevate the living condition of vulnerable people in the country.

“Another thing is resource mobilisation, sometimes our partners need us for them to get the money they required but we will also go to them to get some fund to carry our activities” he said; adding that they will not be able to carry out their strategic plan without resource mobilisation coordination partnership.

He further that the ministry is struggling with individual and performance management, cited they have been failing to monitor some of their activities sometimes.

The report according to him is elaborate and will be looking at constraints of the grassroots people even in the interior.

He continues that the process has started more than 10 months-ago and that they have done it through region, local and national level.

He disclosed that the importance of the document will informed them they are coming from, going and how they should improve the lives of people.

Despite the strategic plan is alien to national priorities, but it however, evident that the outcome of the validation exercise will shape the way in which the ministry could work in years to come.

Giving their commitment Gender Specialist at UNFPA Betty Alpha commends the ministry in their drives to protect vulnerable people mostly women and children.

She added that they have been a strategic and faithful partner with the ministry since 2008, citing that they deliver the world where every pregnancy is wanted, every child birth is safe and every youth person potentials is secured.

“For us at UNFPA looking at our strategic plan globally 2018- 2022, we are now working on three transformative goals namely zero maternal death, zero on meet needs for family planning and zero gender based violence and harmful practices” she noted.
